Payment Options

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) can be a disabling condition. The combination of jaw pain, headaches, and other symptoms can be very disruptive to work, and can even make it impossible for someone to engage in normal life activities. TMJ treatment can alleviate many of the symptoms and make it possible for you to enjoy your life again.

We believe that people in Spokane and Spokane Valley suffering from TMJ should get the treatment they need, which is why we offer flexible payment options, including applying for insurance coverage, financing, and taking direct payment.

It’s important to get TMJ treatment sooner because it is a progressive condition. Time and wear can cause damage to the temporomandibular joint, your bones, your nerves, and your teeth. Treatment today is typically less expensive and less invasive than treatment that may be necessary in the future.

Does Insurance Cover TMJ Treatment?

Yes. In Washington, coverage for TMJ treatment is mandated as part of your health insurance. However, that doesn’t mean that treatment may be covered in your case. There are many restrictions on when your insurance will cover TMJ treatment.

Oral appliances—bite guards—are covered typically for about six months. However, most insurance companies will only cover the use of bite guards for jaw pain, not for headaches, tinnitus, or other symptoms often associated with TMJ.

Dental insurance may cover some types of TMJ treatment, such as restoring teeth that are heavily damaged due to grinding.

In every case, when it comes to insurance coverage, we will work to help you understand your coverage and help you file a claim with your insurance company. In some cases, we may ask only that you pay your estimated copay at the time of treatment. However, we cannot guarantee coverage, and in the event a claim is denied or falls short of the estimated coverage, you will be responsible for the total fee.

Financing TMJ Treatment

Since insurance coverage for TMJ is so uncertain, we offer financing options to help you get the treatment you need when you need it. We work with two financing companies that may be able to help you pay for treatment.

CareCredit

Care Credit logoCareCredit is like other credit cards, but it can only be used for health and beauty expenses. It also offers more favorable terms than your other credit cards, such as:

  • No interest payment plans lasting 6, 12, 18, or 24 months. You have to spend at least $200 to qualify for a 6-month plan, and longer terms are available for higher amounts.
  • Fixed monthly payment plans lasting up to 60 months, with an APR of 14.9%. Purchases of at least $1000 can qualify for payment over 24, 36, or 48 months. Purchases of $2500 or more qualify for a 60 month plan.
CareCredit applications can be made quickly and easily online. You can even make the application in our office. When you know your exact expenses, you can learn the exact terms of your financing.

Lending Club

Lending Club logoLending Club can be used to finance from $499 to $50,000 for your treatment. Lending Club typically covers dental treatments, and not all TMJ treatment plans may qualify for financing this way. However, they also offer no-interest financing for extended periods.
